The Florida Avenue Market is a no-frills warehouse district in Washington, D.C.'s Ward 5. Wholesalers dealing in everything from kitchenware to President Barack Obama T-shirts can be found here, in addition to ethnic markets dealing in Latin American, African and Asian foods. The market is bound by Florida Avenue Northeast, New York Avenue Northeast, Gallaudet University and the Metro's Red Line tracks.
Opening in the 1930s after the Center Market was demolished to make way for the National Archives, plans to redevelop the market's 24-acre site are making their way through the D.C. Council.
